Student Protection Scheme

From 1 May 2010, all students are protected under Fee Protection Scheme, in compliance with Edutrust guidelines. All exisiting students whom were protected under the Student Protection Scheme will automatically be converted to be protected under Fee Protection Scheme.

1. From 1 September 2005, all PEO including N2P2 that want to enrol international students will need to have CaseTrust for Education status. To obtain the status, PEO must obtain a CASE-endorsed Student Protection Scheme (either the CASE-endorsed Student Tuition Fee Account (Escrow) or the CASE-endorsed Student Tuition Fee Insurance).

2. N2P2 has chosen the Student Tuition Fee Account (ESCROW) with the DBS Bank. The Student Tuition Fee Account indemnifies students for their tuition fees paid in advance to the PEO for the following events:
  • PEO unable to continue operations due to insolvency, and/or regulatory closure.
  • PEO fails to pay penalties or return fees to the student arising from judgements made against it by the Singapore courts.
  • Upon death or total permanent disability of the student.
3. The Fees Protection Scheme is compulsory for all students. For international student, the cost of the insurance will be borne by N2P2.For more information about the Fee Protection Scheme visit www.cpe.gov.sg
